Yoga is a healing system of theory and practice, a combination
of breathing exercising, physical postures, relaxation and
meditation. When the body and mind are united, health and
wellbeing can be achieved and a sense of balance restored.
Yoga is one of the best ways to increase flexibility. Through
regular practice, your muscles will gradually lengthen and
loosen. The aches and pains that may be present when you
reach for your toes will gradually disappear.
It is recommended that you do not eat for two hours before class.
It is absolutely fine to drink before and during class. It is normal to
bring a bottle of water into class and to take regular sips if you wish.
It is important that you are comfortable in class and wear clothing that
will allow a full range of movement in your body without restriction.
It is usual that leggings, shorts, light tracksuit bottoms, strap tops
tank tops are worn. It is useful to wear a tight top so that when you are
forward bending it stays where it’s supposed.
Everything will be provided in class. Each student will have a mat,
blocks and strap. If you would prefer to being your own equipment, that
is absolutely fine. You may wish to bring a bottle of water and a towel.
Yoga is a wonderful practice, which helps with sports injuries and
chronic illnesses. It is encouraged for you to tell the teacher before
class starts so you can be offered a modified practice to suit your
needs. It is also important that you embrace being your own teacher
and listen to your body. Yoga benefits those who work hard in class but
also those that respect their body and rest when needed.
